What is Arlington Masters?

Arlington Masters is a swim club for adults 18 or older who are interested in fitness through structured swimming workouts. We have 150+ registered members and our parent organization is United States Masters Swimming.

How do I know I can swim Masters?

We do not teach beginners how to swim; for learn-to-swim programs, please look into Arlington County Adult Level Swim Classes or private swim lessons. However, if you can swim 100 yards freestyle in under 2 minutes, have basic skills of all four strokes, and would like to improve your technique, our coaches can provide tips on stroke improvement during practice.

How are practices structured?

Our practices are usually 2,700-3600 yards in distance for an hour practice and 4,000-4,500 meters in distance for an hour and a half practice. Practices consist of various sets at a given interval (depending on lane speed) and vary depending on the coach. We have several experienced coaches and volunteers who aide at practices.

Where and when do you swim?

We swim at Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center. Our current schedule can be found posted on our About page.

Do I have to swim in meets?

Only if you want. We do have a group of enthusiastic swimmers who attend meets; however, participation is strictly optional.  Masters swim meets are a great way to get motivated and help set personal goals!

How much are workouts?

Current prices are posted on our schedule and fees page.

If I am visiting from out of town, can I drop in?

Sure! If you are a USMS member from another club, just email your current USMS membership to arlingtonmasters@gmail.com prior to your practice so we can add you to our roster.  You must purchase an ARMS drop-in pass here ahead of time, and purchase  access to Long Bridge Aquatic Center at the pool.

How do I join?

Great! See our Join the Team! page for more details.
